Where and Wear | New York City

We have found our trip!  After much contemplation and shamelessly hawking out every opportunity for travel on the internet, we are going to New York City.   I have been to NYC many times but have never taken my kids, unless you count layovers on the way to Europe.   Summer 2015 is the year for #Halestorm to visit The Big Apple.  My boys really wanted to go to a beach, so I found a way to work that into the middle of the trip. I will be writing about that soon because that will be an exciting first as well.

WHERE: New York City

We are going to make NYC the best MANCATION that has ever been taken.   Since I will be traveling with my four sons I will be planning on a little less retail exploration and more boats, trains, and skyscrapers.  I will be posting our adventures in ice cream and antics as I go.

Our vacation is going to be broken into 3 parts; including a chic Gramercy Park apartment, a small and stylish bungalow in the Hamptons, and the final jewel, the newly debuted luxury hotel collaboration between Marriott and Ian Schrager.

Stay: The New York EDITION

Since I have already stayed at the Istanbul, London, and Miami locations, it is a must for me to visit this property too.  I have always stayed with my husband only and not #Halestorm.   The boys have been a little jealous, so now it will be their turn to experience this wonder.   Since they always use up the shampoo I bring home they will definitely recognize the signature scent of The EDITION when we walk through the doors. The EDITION has assured me that they love and welcome families.

The New York EDITION’s 273 unique guest rooms and suites feature oak floors and dark oak wood-paneled foyers that create a cozy, private residential entrance. Oversize windows magically frame city views, ranging from a close-up, and intimate view of Madison Square Park, to the world-famous Empire State Building, to the breathtaking skyline of New York City.

Breathtaking! Magic! Yes to all...

The Hotel is located in the Flatiron District.  Named after the iconic Flatiron Building at 23rd Street, Broadway and 5th Avenue, the Flatiron neighborhood is bounded by Union Square and Greenwich Village to the south, Chelsea to the West, NOMad to the North and Gramercy Park to the East.  It is not only central to all of Manhattan but a destination in its own right, boasting public art installations in Madison Square Park, Beaux-Arts architecture of iconic landmarks, award-winning contemporary restaurants and shopping. The New York EDITION is within walking distance of Union Square, Grand Central Terminal and The Morgan Library & Museum.

We have never stayed in the Flatiron District and have had to make out a full map of our activities that we have planned, so I can make the most of it and our #MancationNYC.

For city travel I like to keep my wardrobe streamlined and easy and build upon a palette. I always follow my own packing rules and have enough in a carryon to get me through in peace a joy if my bag doesn't make when I do.

Regardless of what time of year you visit New York City, you should pick a palette such as ivory, denim, black, with an accent color.  Then pick edited pieces that travel well, flatter your body, and allow for transit through subway, ferry, streets, and sights.
