Halestorm | Family Vacations + Hints to our #SecretMancation

I started traveling for real with my children 11 years ago.   I was 30 years old with 3 young sons and I hadn't ever been to Europe.   I felt this problem needed to be fixed.   I had a few obstacles to overcome to get there; mostly related to my budget.   I also didn't like the idea of a hotel with four-walls-until-morning with kids and $12 pancakes.   I started looking into house trades and got one organized for that July.   I also went line-by-line in my household budget and cut out thousands of dollars to put into the kitty for the trip.  Since that time though either a trade, renting my house on Airbnb, or some other hack, I have taken my family on the road every summer.  We don't always go abroad, but we always try to make the most of what we are experiencing; the best ice cream spots, a cool park, a niche museum, a more remote ruin.

Planning vacations; where to go, what to eat, and what to wear are my favorite #FrockProjects.  I have a few travel recipes that never fail me for how to entertain my family and how to dress myself.

Art + Ice Cream + Park + Lunch + Historical Site is the order of activities for kids.
